Zoolied big Silicon Windows Silicon can be produced via different methods—most notably the Czochralski (Cz) and Float-Zone (Fz) techniques. When grown by the Czochralski pulling technique, there is an absorption peak at 9µm due to the presence of oxygen, but this is vastly reduced when prepared by the Float-Zone technique. Optical Si Crytal Lens and windows are usually doped with either boron (p-type) or phosphorous (n-type) to increase its resistivity (5 to 40 ohm cm). Like germanium, silicon is a semiconducting material with an indirect bandgap at 1.1µm at room temperature.

Silicon’s transmission is at around 50% between 1-6µm, and above 50µm, therefore an AR coating is recommended to achieve higher transmission, and a DLC coating can be applied to an exposed surface to increase its durability.

Zoolied Silicon (Si) Windows manufactured from optical grade silicon are popular for the 1.2 - 7μm spectral region due to their low cost and low density. Due to its low density (half that of germanium or zinc selenide), silicon is ideal for weight sensitive applications, especially those in the 3 - 5μm region. Density is 2.329 g/cm3 and Knoop Hardness is 1150, making it harder and less brittle than germanium. Zoolied Optical Windows are offered in a variety of substrates, such as DLC coating Silicon Windows, N-BK7(H-K9L), Cvd Znse Lens, Ir Znse Windows, and single Crystal Caf2 Windows. Multiple anti-reflection coating options are available for the Ultraviolet (UV), visible, or Infrared (IR).
