Because calcium fluoride has a very low refractive index, it can be used directly without any anti-reflective coating. It is a chemically and physically stable crystal with excellent water resistance, chemical resistance and heat resistance. It provides low absorption and high transmission, ranging from vacuum ultraviolet 125nm to infrared 8 microns. Because of the unique optical dispersion specificity of CaF2, it can be used as an achromatic lens in combination with other optical materials.
