The chemical composition is aluminum oxide (A12O3), the crystal form is α-A12O3, the molecular weight is 101.9612, and the density at 20°C is 3.98 g/ml. The chemical properties of sapphire are very stable, generally insoluble in water and corroded by acids and alkalis. Only at high temperatures (above 300℃) can it be corroded by hydrofluoric acid (HF), phosphoric acid (H3PO4) and molten potassium hydroxide (KOH) .
