ZnSe focus lens 2024-10-12

  The ZnSe focus lens is a key element with important applications in infrared optics. It is transparent from 600 nm - 16 µm and is ideal for IR applications. ZnSe windows and lenses are precision optical components commonly used in thermal imaging, high power CO2 laser systems and life sciences. With an absorption coefficient of 0.0005 cm-1 at 10.6 μm, it is well suited for mid-infrared applications.

 

1. Material Properties
High infrared light transmission: ZnSe has excellent light transmission properties in the infrared band. This means that it can transmit infrared light efficiently, reducing light absorption and scattering losses, thus ensuring the imaging quality and energy transmission efficiency of infrared systems.
Good physical properties: ZnSe is a yellow transparent polycrystalline material. It is not hygroscopic and is chemically stable unless treated with strong acids, making it safe for use in most industrial, field and laboratory environments.
High refractive index: The higher refractive index allows ZnSe focus lens to better refract and focus light, helping to achieve high precision optical focusing capabilities.



2. Design and Manufacturing
Aspherical design: ZnSe focus lens use aspherical design. Compared with traditional spherical lens, aspherical lens are able to better correct for aberration and spherical aberration, resulting in a smaller and sharper focusing spot, which improves the imaging quality and resolution of the optical system.
Precision machining technology: Manufacturing ZnSe focus lens requires high-precision machining technology to ensure the face accuracy, dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the lens. Common machining methods include CNC milling and grinding and precision ring polishing.
Optical Coating: In order to improve the transmittance and anti-reflective properties of the lens, ZnSe focus lens usually require optical coating. Common coating materials include MgF₂ ,SiO₂, etc.

Function and Application
In CO₂ laser processing industry, ZnSe focus lens is widely used in laser cutting, engraving, marking, drilling and other laser systems. It can focus the laser beam to a very small spot size for high precision processing operations. It can focus infrared light onto the detector to form a clear infrared image. It plays an important role in both night surveillance and security fields, as well as in thermal imaging detection and industrial automation. Due to its good optical performance and small focusing spot,ZnSe focus lens can be used for coupling output of infrared light sources and transmission of single-mode or multimode optical fibers. It can also be used in infrared thermal imaging equipment, medical laser equipment and so on.
