Zoolied IR Silicon with BBAR & DLC@3-5μm Si Windows 2022-8-22

Zoolied`s Lwir Ge Windows with Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating have been designed with durability in mind. Featuring a high efficiency broadband anti-reflection coating on one surface and a specially designed DLC coating on the other surface, these Germanium With Dlc Coating feature excellent transmission and environmental resistance. The DLC coated surface is designed to withstand temperature cycling from -80 to +120°C, salt spray for a continuous period of 24 hours, salt solubility for an immersion period of 24 hours, and 5,000 wiper oscillations in a sand and slurry mixture.

Zoolied Optical Windows are offered in a variety of substrates, such as Dlc Coating Silicon Windows, N-BK7(H-K9L), UV Fused Silica, Ir Znse Windows, and single Crystal Caf2 Windows. Multiple anti-reflection coating options are available for the Ultraviolet (UV), visible, or Infrared (IR).

Germanium (Ge) Windows are available off-the-shelf with three anti-reflection coating options: 3 - 5μm for mid-infrared applications, 3 - 12μm for broadband multispectral applications, or 8 - 12μm for thermal imaging applications. Due to its high index of refraction (around 4.0 from 2 - 14μm), an anti-reflection coating is recommended on these Germanium windows for sufficient transmission in the region of interest. Germanium is subject to thermal runaway, meaning that the transmission decreases as temperature increases. As such, these Germanium windows should be used at temperatures below 100°C. Germanium`s high density (5.33 g/cm3) should be considered when designing for weight-sensitive systems. The Knoop Hardness of Germanium (780) is approximately twice that of magnesiμm fluoride, making it ideal for infrared applications requiring rugged optics.
